New changes to organ donation laws

CareDocs Blog Care News New Changes to Organ Donation Laws

Ask your residents their preference today

The laws surrounding Organ Donation have changed today (20th May). All adults in England will now be automatically considered for organ donation when they die unless they choose to opt out or are part of an excluded group.

Find out more about the changes here:
https://nhsbtdbe.blob.core.windows.net/umbraco-assets-corp/17433/english-organ-donation-law-is-changing-easy-read.pdf

The NHS is asking for decisions to be officially registered on the NHS Organ Donor Register (www.organdonation.nhs.uk/register-your-decision/), and also for family and friends to be informed.

After your residents’ wishes have been logged on the NHS Organ Donor Register, you can then record them on CareDocs along with whether their family and friends have been made aware, following these steps:

Go to:
Assessment – Last wishes – Donation – Other

Make sure your residents understand the changes and can make an informed decision. Find out more about the organ donation opt out system here:
