Celebrating a decade and a half of supporting digital transformation in care
Identifying the need for digitisation
Back in 2008 when the CareDocs digital care management system was commercially released, the term ‘digital transformation’ wasn’t especially well-known in the care community. Even care management software was a relatively new concept, with CareDocs being among the very first of its kind in the UK.
However, the origins of CareDocs goes back further. Development began on the initial version of our software in the late 1990s by two Bristol care home owners with the aim of helping other care providers deliver care more efficiently without the use of paper. After its completion, local residential care services began adopting the system through word-of-mouth – a completely different CareDocs to what we see today.
Developing expert care solutions
Our products and services have continued to improve throughout the years by incorporating new digital solutions. This is made possible by the collaboration of our proactive subject matter experts and talented software developers. Popular and timeless features that care services can access include person-centred care planning, daily note recording and an electronic policies and procedures library.
Although Bristol remains the main base of operations, our dedicated team are spread out across the country to ensure we can easily travel to care services no matter the location. Just recently, our Head of Sales had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Shetland Islands to install the system in a home and welcome the fantastic staff to the CareDocs family – proving no care service is out of reach.
Reflecting on the past
Over the last 15 years, we’ve helped thousands of care businesses with their digital transformation and start benefitting from digital solutions. We’re immensely proud to be in a position to support care providers and are grateful to have pioneered care home technology in earlier years. Today, roughly 50% of social care settings in England use a digital means of recording care.
The combination of time-saving person-centred features and outstanding customer service has been paramount to our lasting presence as a trusted software provider. Another key benefit we offer is our ever-evolving point of care recording capability which is available to customers at no extra charge.
In 2014 we were one of the only UK care software providers to have released a mobile care recording platform. In 2018 we launched a more comprehensive mobile product, and very soon we’re rolling out a brand-new smartphone application.
General Manager at CareDocs, Alan Pocock, describes what the 15-year milestone means for the company: “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication displayed by an exceptional team. We’ve seen so much change but our core values have remained the same. We continue to work closely with customers, making transformation easier and providing ongoing support so carers feel confident using our software.”
Looking to the future
CareDocs is currently undergoing a transformation of its own. Like social care providers, we’re also working to bring our services fully in line with criteria set out by the NHS Transformation Directorate. As a result, we’ll be releasing new digital solutions to accommodate all of the capabilities required to become an NHS-assured supplier. This commitment will help ensure that we’re continually supplying the best possible products and support to our customers.
As part of the transformation process, we’re seeing our team expand at a fast rate. Another big step forward for the CareDocs family has been the introduction of our brilliant Customer Success team. Their goal is to guide customers through their unique digital journeys, starting right from the onboarding process. To ensure our customers remain confident, the Customer Success team also perform regular check-ins and provide ongoing training and support throughout the year. This involves learning about our customers’ challenges and showing them how to use the system in the most effective way for their circumstances.
Alan Pocock concludes with his thoughts on what customers can expect from CareDocs: “The future looks bright and exciting. There are plans in place that will further improve the customer experience and software capabilities, including our commitment to becoming an accredited NHS supplier to support integration between the NHS and different social care services.”
