Following the impact coronavirus has had on our economy, the hospitality and leisure sectors have arguably been hit the hardest by job losses. Businesses are having to close their doors and people on zero-hour contracts are being left in states of uncertainty. Staff at airlines, restaurants, hotels and venues are amongst those affected, trained to give first-class customer care, maintain high levels of cleanliness and generally provide invaluable service.

This an opportunity to draw in new staff and volunteers who may already have existing transferable skills that are perfect for the care sector. As well as care and social workers, a variety of paid and unpaid supporting roles could be filled, including kitchen staff, housekeeping, activity coordinators and more. If there’s one positive to take from a difficult situation, it may be this. With the government’s recent plea to find NHS volunteers getting an overwhelming response, this is a good time to keep momentum going. Reach out and show people why caring is a challenging but rewarding opportunity.
