How to prepare for a night shift at a care home
There’s a common misconception about working the night shift in care homes and nursing homes. Some might assume that because residents are going to be sleeping there’s less to do. However, often there’s just as much work, and the shift itself comes with its own unique challenges – most understandably fighting the urge to fall asleep. Many services now use digital social care records such as CareDocs DSCR during night shifts, allowing staff to record care, complete checks and update notes in real time without returning to an office computer.
